Official government resources, plus a plain-language guide to what a PESO certificate covers, who needs one, and what the process looks like.
All PESO applications, including vendor registration, are filed through the National Single Window System (NSWS) portal linked above.
A PESO certificate is an official approval issued by the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) — the central government body, under DPIIT, that regulates how petroleum, LPG, compressed gases, explosives, and pressure vessels are stored, handled, and transported in India.
It confirms that a site, tank, or piece of equipment meets the safety standards set out in the Petroleum Act, 1934, Petroleum Rules, 2002, Explosives Act, 1884, Explosives Rules, 2008, and related regulations such as the Gas Cylinders Rules, 2016 and the SMPV(U) Rules, 2016.
For most of P2H Solution's clients, this comes down to one thing: if your site stores HSD (High Speed Diesel) above the exempted threshold, you need a PESO license before you commission that storage.
Confirm what you store, how much, and which rule category applies.
Site layout plans, land papers, tank drawings, and NOCs prepared.
Application submitted online through the National Single Window System.
PESO officers review documents and inspect the site.
Certificate issued once the site and documents satisfy the rules.
We're based in Chennai and work sites across India directly — not through a subcontractor. The difference that matters most: we don't just file your PESO paperwork, we also fabricate and maintain the tank the license covers. One team, one contact, from the site drawing to the certificate.
If your site stores petroleum, gas, or handles pressure vessels, a PESO certificate is a legal requirement, not a formality. Getting the documentation, site plans, and inspection right the first time avoids months of back-and-forth. That's the part P2H Solution handles for you.
It depends on the license category — petroleum storage licenses are commonly issued for around 3 years, while other categories can run longer. We track your renewal date so it doesn't lapse.
It varies with documentation readiness and inspection scheduling — often a matter of weeks once site plans and NOCs are in order, longer if documents need rework.
Yes — imported flameproof or Ex-rated equipment used in hazardous zones generally needs PESO approval before use in India, via an Authorized Indian Representative.
Operating on an expired license carries the same risk as having none — sealing, fines, and possible prosecution. We recommend starting renewal at least a month before expiry.
It depends on your site layout and how the storage is classified — this is one of the first things we assess during the site review.
Yes — we review PESO's query, fix the documentation gap, and refile on your behalf.
They're separate approvals from separate authorities — PESO covers safe storage and handling of the petroleum itself, while the Fire NOC covers the site's fire safety readiness. Most HSD storage sites need both.
